Experiment setup

Hi all

This email is primary to Simon i regards to an upcoming spectral line experiment, but thought it might be of general interest...

When scheduling non-stanard frequencies (ie if you cannot use a pre-canned setup such as lba3cm-2p-2IF.set) including ALL spectral line experiments, you will either create your own .set file or use the setinit section in the .key files. Systems using Mark5 recorders (e.g. Warwworth, Hart, Ausscope) need slightly different setup from antenna which use the LBA DAS.

Cormac or I can advise anyone on how to do this but the important thing to remember is:

 - You must use the sched "LBA" antenna name in sched, not the Mark5 name. Usually Tid is the only affected antenna (use for example DSS43LBA) but both Parkes and Hobart can use Mark5.
 - You must remember to add any antennas using LBA DAS to the appropriate line in the setup list. I recommend anyone creating a new setup file, even for a "one off" experiments to add all LBA DAS antenna in case the setup is recycled.

Failure to do this means the vexfile comes with the channel order wrong and fringe testing and correlation will fail without manual intervention.

Affected antenna are Parkes, Ceduna, ATCA, Mopra, Hobart, DSS45LBA, DSS43LBA. ASKAP also needs a separate setup if used also.

Regards
Chris
