Employment opportunity: Observatory mechanical engineer

Applications are invited for the position of Observatory Mechanical Engineer. The closing date for applications is 1 December 2003.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and monitoring the long-term maintenance programs for the Narrabri, Mopra and Parkes telescopes and associated infrastructure. You will also help plan and oversee major mechanical and civil works at the observatories as well as any contracted works. A degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering plus several years experience is required. A commitment to workplace safety and proven effectiveness at leading staff are also essential.
