WA announces Radio Astronomy Park and Premier's Fellowships

West Australian Minister for Science and Innovation, Francis Logan, has announced that the WA Government is establishing a radio astronomy park at Mileura Station in the Mid West of the State.

Other initiatives announced by Mr Logan include:
- the awarding of $1 million fellowships in radio astronomy to the ATNF's Dr Lister Staveley-Smith and ESO's Dr Peter Quinn;
- funding for the Australian Astronomy Major National Research Facilities Program, the Australian Research Council's super computing project and the Australian Communications and Media Authority to establish a radio-quiet zone at the astronomy park; and
- a new Astronomy WA website, designed and run by Scitech, at http://www.astronomywa.net.au .
