Parkes 60th Anniversary

The Parkes telescope was inaugurated on October 31st, 1961, and so celebrates its 60th birthday on Sunday, October 31st. Unfortunately, covid restrictions prevent us from gathering at the Parkes Observatory (as was done for the 30th, 40th, and 50th anniversaries) on this occasion, however a small (invitation only) event will be held at the Telescope on November 1st. This event will be live-streamed. A Parkes 60th webpage (click on the More Information link below), collecting contributions from current and former staff and observers, is continuing to grow, and provides details of Monday's live-stream.
