ATCA gives new view of a supernova remnant 1E 0102.2–7219

Astronomers using using ATNF instruments to study a supernova remnant in a neighbouring galaxy have revealed new high-resolution images of the object made using ATCA.

The international team observed SNR E0102-72 in the Small Magellanic Cloud and their research discusses how the remnant's radio emission extends beyond its X-ray emission, indicating the presence of forward and reverse shocks.
