VACANCY - Digital Systems Engineer

A highly motivated digital systems engineer with exceptional firmware / HDL design and programming skills is sought to work as a critical part of a project team designing high-speed real-time digital processing systems. The CSIRO Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF) based in Marsfield, Sydney, is designing and developing a new generation radio telescope (ASKAP) for construction in the mid- west of Western Australia.

The ATNF is AustraliaÂ’s premier radio astronomy research organisation and operates world-class radio astronomy observatories at Parkes, Narrabri, and Coonabarabran, with its headquarters and research laboratory located in Marsfield where this position will be based.

Previous experience and a demonstrated aptitude for the programming of Xilinx or Altera FPGAs is essential. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong focus on working collaboratively within a project team as well as the ability to work independently and achieve results. Proven ability to troubleshoot problems and to communicate solutions effectively are also key requirements for success.

The appointment level and salary will be negotiated (within the range indicated) on the basis of the appointeeÂ’s qualifications and relative experience. Relocation expenses and assistance with accommodation may be provided.
