Abstract

For successful operation over multi-octave frequency ranges places
interesting design challenges for the array element. Dependant on
whether sparse, semi-sparse or fully filled array geometries are used ,
the local environment around the element will constrain physical
dimensions differently and change the mutual coupling environment. In
this presentation performance trade-offs for various types of element
designs operating over the 300MHz to 1.2GHz range will be discussed.
This will focus on fully-filled array geometries for dual polarisation
operation but will include some comments on the consequences of using
sparse array configurations.
