Astrophysics Research Scientist - Indefinite Appointment Available

The Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF) at CSIRO, seeks a highly skilled Research Scientist to engage in original and independent astrophysics research using ATNF and other world-class facilities.

Astrophysics staff also play a key role within the ATNF by interacting closely with the technical staff who are designing next generation instrumentation and with the operations staff when subsequently commissioning that new instrumentation.

Strong areas of current research for ATNF Astrophysics staff are in studies of (1) pulsars, (2) the interstellar medium and star formation, (3) nearby galaxies, (4) active galactic nuclei and radio galaxies.

The successful candidate is likely to have (1) about 5 years of research experience in radio astronomy, (2) an affinity for new instrumentation design and commissioning, (3) an outstanding publication record and (4) a demonstrated capability for innovative research.
