Local shops and restaurants

There are many fantastic shops and restaurants located within the Hunter Valley Wine Country. Listed below are those that are within an easy walking distance of the Mercure Resort. Within the neighbouring Hunter Valley Gardens is also a village of various boutique shops and cafés (click here for a full list). There are six renowned cellar doors within walking distance of the Mercure Resort.

Steakhouse

The Hunter Valley Steakhouse is located at the Mercure Resort Hunter Valley Gardens and is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week from 12 noon. The restaurant offers relaxed and affordable dining in an atmosphere of relaxed country style.

The Cellar Restaurant

Centrally located in the heart of Wine Country, just a short stroll from the world class Hunter Valley Gardens, The Cellar Restaurant promises European influenced Modern Australian cuisine in elegant yet relaxed surroundings. Chef and proprietor Andrew Wright is passionate about sourcing the freshest and best quality local produce and his menus change with the seasons.

Harrigan's Irish pub

A hungry appetite will be satisfied at Harrigan's as the restaurant serves hearty Irish fare as well as the traditional 'cook your own' Australian barbecue and a wood fire pizza oven. Harrigan's also has outdoor dining with magnificent views over the vineyards and live music on weekends. The Sports bar features Irish Beers on tap.

Oishii at the Tempus Two winery

Oishii offers a real alternative for dining in the Hunter Valley. The authentic Thai and Japanese restaurant offers an extensive menu including traditional favourites such as teriyaki chicken, beef or fish right through to sushi and sashimi selections as well as a variety of vegetarian dishes. Goldfish bar and restaurant at the Tempus Two winery

Goldfish Hunter Valley offers an international food menu ranging from bite size nibbles to snack on while you enjoy a glass of wine, through to graze and filling size portions if you are after a more substantial meal. The menu is designed to share so you can order an array of different dishes that will be delivered progressively and served in the middle of the table for everyone to enjoy. It is a great social dining experience. Their drinks menu is extensive and contains award winning cocktails, new and old world wines, numerous Australian and international beers as well as an assortment of spirits and liqueurs.

Smelly Cheese Shop at the Tempus Two winery

At the Tempus Two winery there is also the Smelly Cheese Shop specializing in a range of excellent cheeses, freshly made gelato, olives and antipasti, and locally made chutneys, preserves, and honey.
