Installation of Numeric
Make sure the environment variable "PYTHONPATH" exists and points to a directory which is writeable for you. Unpack the Numeric tarball and run
python setup.py install
This should leave you with the Numeric package in $PYTHONPATH. If you need more help on installation, consult the INSTALL file in the Numeric tree, or your friendly sysadmin.
