LBA time in the April Semester

Dear VLBIers,

Roppesh recently told me that the best days to go travelling in India
are those deemed inauspicious for travel for religious and/or
astrological reasons. On those days the trains and buses are a lot less
crowded.

Well, I've been looking into the crystal ball that is the DSN schedule
and have discovered that Black Friday the 13th of May 2005 is indeed an
inauspicious day for spacecraft tracking. We have been allocated a
whopping 32.4 continuous hours on the 70m! This is the first time I've
seen such an allocation in the almost 6 years I've been in this job. The
time range is:

        Day 133, 03:00 UT to 134, 11:25 UT, or
        May 13, 13:00 to May 14, 21:25 AEST.

In fact this comes as some form of compensation for losing the 70m for 6
months from June/July as it undergoes a major upgrade.

Looking at the IVS schedule +/- a week of this date, Hobart looks clear,
Hart has commitments on days 129/130, 136/137 and 139/140, Kokee on
131->133 and 138-140. So my suggestion is to allocate the week leading
up to the Tid time for the April semester, i.e:

Day 127 14:00 UT to day 134, 14:00 UT, or
Sunday May 8, 00:00 AEST to Saturday May 14 23:59 AEST

How does that suit everyone?

Cheers,
Jim
