[askap-users] Access to ASKAP data

Dear ASKAP users,

As you may be aware, data from CSIRO’s ASKAP telescope on Wajarri Country is transferred to the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre, processed by the Setonix supercomputer and then archived on Pawsey’s Acacia Ingest cluster. This data is then made available to researchers via the CASDA archive on CSIRO’s Data Access Portal.

Pawsey’s Acacia Ingest system is currently unavailable and, as a result, access to archival ASKAP data via the CASDA portal is also unavailable. There are no indications of data loss at this stage.
The Pawsey team is working to resume normal access to the Acacia Ingest system as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the Pawsey team has made storage available on the separate Acacia Project cluster which will enable processing of new data coming from ASKAP. This will allow the ASKAP telescope to continue survey operations and for resulting data to be provided to research teams via CASDA. During this period only data deposited from 6 February 2024 onwards will be available; previously deposited data remains unavailable.

We understand that ASKAP Survey Science teams rely on timely and continuing access to the data in CASDA and we apologise for the inconvenience caused by this disruption.
Further updates on access to ASKAP data via CASDA will be added to the CASDA website at https://research.csiro.au/casda/ as they become available.

With regards,
Minh Huynh
